Woolen Winter
“Winter” often has a negative connation for people. They think of bleak weather, shoveling snow, and a total lack of sun. At Interweave Knits, we see great reasons to layer on the handknits and cast on a new project in brightly colored yarns—you just need to look at it another way. Fight the cliché to rush the winter away and, instead, discover the beautiful projects and articles in the Winter 23 issue of Knits!
Whether a winter-lover like editor Kerry Bogert or whether someone who struggles to get over the winter doldrums, this is a fantastic issue to keep you knitting through the darkest months and beyond. In our Refined Rustic collection, we share projects that cover a range of techniques. From the intricately cabled Dizen Sweater and the color-shifting Belt of Venus Pullover to the Fair Isle-style Gelid Quarter-Zip Pullover and the syncopated ribbed Bryo Tunic, projects span a range of techniques and difficulty levels. With those, we are also sharing four of the most popular Wool Studio patterns. Plus, with so many garments in this issue, we called in fit expert and knitting instructor Kim McBrien Evans to teach us how to knit sweaters that fit our unique bodies better.
For the Maker’s Tools we go “into the woods” with a charming collection of accessories perfectly suited for an enchanted forest—or knitting bag. We’re also introducing a new look to our Fiber Review which gives readers a better look at the yarns used throughout the issue. And we close things with an endearing Ravelings that shares what one knitter did when she was told she couldn’t knit anymore.
